The Challenges for the Law Firm's Website:

A Miami-based personal injury law firm came to Sapphire SEO Solutions with the following challenges:

  • The website hadn't been updated for several years, and it was slow and clunky.

  • There was no visibility on Google Maps

  • None of their main focus keywords were on the first page. In fact, their best-performing keywords were on pages 3 and 4 of search engine results.

  • 90% of their leads were coming from paid ads, and they were spending thousands of dollars on advertising.

The Goal - Law Firm SEO Improvements

The goal of this law firm was to move away from spending thousands on ad spend, and instead, bring in more organic search traffic. We explained that paid ads can certainly work, but they are very expensive and once you stop paying for them, traffic dies down.

Our team began working on strategies that we knew would help, and we gave the plan 6 months to start showing results.

The Strategy - Technical SEO , Local SEO, On-Page SEO, and Content Marketing

We started with a full SEO audit. This is even more detailed than the free audit that we offer to everyone. These full audits take a deep dive into a site and it identifies all of the issues and problems that might be holding it back from appearing on the first page of search results.

Once we had the results of the audit, we were able to create the following SEO strategy:

Technical SEO

  • The site speed was very slow. It was taking 4.8s to load, which is very poor. If pages can't load in a couple of seconds, it gives a bad user experience, or UX.

  • Once of the reasons the site was so slow is that the images placed on the site were huge. We needed to compress all images.

  • The heading structure was all over the place, too, so we needed to restructure the headings.

  • Finally, there were old pages, outdated URLs, and some pages were still served as HTTP instead of HTTPS. We added HTTPS redirects and canonical tags.

Local SEO

Law firm SEO performance is directly related to local SEO strategies. We focused on optimizing this firm's Google Business Profile, and we worked to get the firm listed on Yelp, Avvo, and Justia. Our local SEO efforts also included embedding NAP (Name, Address, Phone) schema within the site. Local SEO is the most important part of SEO for companies and services that depend on local clients, including law firms, doctors, restaurants, spas, boutiques, and salons.

On-Page Search Engine Optimization

Some of the pages on the client's site simply were not performing well because they were not localized. Instead of focusing on keywords like "car accident lawyer," we did keyword research and then re-wrote the client's service pages to target phrases like "Miami car accident lawyer." We also created an internal linking plan, and we added FAQ schema to target AI overviews, which are very important in search engine rankings.

Content Marketing

Another way that we boosted this firm's SEO was to implement content marketing. We set up a schedule to post four supporting blog posts each month to answer common legal search queries, like "What to do after a car accident in Florida?" This also allowed us to target relevant keywords that are "rear-end collision claim advice Miami."
